The Advent Promise

Christ is Coming – Christ has Come – Christ will Come Again  – that is the promise of Advent.

For Advent this year we are entering into a season of worship, listening and action. There are a number of ways we can participate and invite our neighbours to participate.

  1. There is an Advent Prayer and Practices Guide that will be posted to guide us through Advent and invite us into shared practices.

2. Advent Wreaths/Candles and Sunday Gatherings. We would encourage each household to have an Advent Wreath or Advent Candles. This will be part of our worship together on Sundays. It can be simple or elaborate… and there is a twist. Check out these documents to help in creating the candle wreaths and learning about the twist.

3. Creative Advent. There will be space on Saturday evenings at 7:45pm on our regular Zoom gathering link to create together. Write. cook, draw, paint, build, sew… All our welcome to come and participate or use the space for prayer or reading.

4. Loving our Neighbours. We want to practice love and generosity to our neighbours. We would love to invite them to join in as well.  We are raising money to provide food, hampers and gifts for some of our neighbours. We would invite you to give to that. Any gifts received before Sunday Nov 29th will be matched by the church. We are also facilitating a clothing drive. Info can be found here.

5. Christmas Parties. Joy and celebration are as important as ever this year. We are looking at an evening of fun, food and sharing the Christmas story – of course all Covid safe. Stay tuned for more details.

6. Christmas Eve. Stay tuned for our Christmas Eve gathering.
