These past 3 days since our last update have been a blast!!!
Yesterday was our day-off it was super fun! The first thing we did after breakfast was go on a hike that had a really good spot to take pictures over a lake at the end of it. Next, we went to Paul lake and it was UBER fun. We jumped off the dock and probably got a disease but who cares! The good thing is that we all had fun. We also went to the pool and had a WHALE of a time! And we went out to eat. They didn’t have wifi but that’s fine I guess. Anyways I had fun, they had fun, we all had fun! all in all good day.
Today was fun because we got to make stairs at a refugee’s house but we got sun burnt. We also were given the task of painting his fence, but we only had two cans of paint for 45 meters…Nonetheless, we got the job done in the end. Kyson went out and bought a couple more brushes for us and then got three more cans of paint.
Tonight’s service has been an incredible experience. Its hard to find words to describe how amazing it was. Carmen’s talk gave us a different view on communion. Usually, communion is taken solemnly and quietly, but Carmen encouraged us to yell “Hail!” in response to the triumphant victory of our risen King. So as we divided into our groups for communion, we set the bar for the other youth groups and shouted “Hail!” before we took the bread and juice. To top off an already rich night, Fraser and the band started playing a song which Rosa immediately recognized as “Light Up the Night,” an Amplify favourite. We had never danced, sung, shouted, or praised God so intensely before. It felt like the chapel was trembling with God’s presence as we sung to worship our King. Definitely a highlight of SERVE2018.
