In and For the Neighbourhood "In4"
There's a word used to describe Jesus: "Incarnation." Incarnation means to "embody in human form" or "make real or concrete." As Jesus walked the earth, He was God in tangible form.
He moved into the neighbourhood, if you will.
We believe Jesus has real life to give us and our neighbours.
Since the start of our faith community in 1992, we have become "In4" four neighbourhoods in the Lower Mainland.
We began by engaging in the Edmonds area of Burnaby and quickly grew into the Robson Park neighbourhood in Surrey. Within a few years we had become "In4" two other areas: Willoughby in Langley and Forest Grove in north Burnaby.
Neighbours are very important to us. They are the people in the place where we live, work, play, rest and worship. They are the people we experience life with in the place we call "home."
We want to network people together who want to be involved in helping make the world a better place, starting with our own community. So, throughout this site you'll find a number of different projects that you might be "In4."
You might ask yourself, "Who are these people? Why do they care?" Well, this site is organized by a church called Southside. Let us tell you a little about ourselves.
First, we believe that church is not a building. We are a group of people who love those around us. We are in for helping and in for caring.
Second, we believe that church is made up of people who follow Jesus and that we should act like He did to others while He lived here on earth. He was in for sacrificing Himself for the needs of others and so should we ⎯ which leads us to our third point.
We want to demonstrate God's love for everyone and His desire to have a relationship with them.
So, do you need to be a Christian to be involved?
No.
Our projects are all about helping people get some of their needs met. It's about bringing hope, joy and love to our community and to the world.
